Recently, Elisabet has started two new musical projects. In both cases the groups already had existed before, so that it can be said they are not actually her projects. She rather was invited to join them.

The first group is called OddBeatles, which is OddTrio, formed by David, Xavi and Pere with Elisabet as a singer. Previously, OddTrio was a instrumental-only group that already had existed for 10 years, and it's precisely due to its 10th anniversary, that the trio decided to do something different. As this short introduction and the new band's name might indicate, it was decided to play songs from the Beatles. Since what Oddtrio previously did was jazz, OddBeatles' repertoir are very jazzy Beatles songs. As for now, they've only had one gig in a local bar, but in my humble opinion, it's a very promising project.

Two videos and a number of photos of the gig are to be found here. The vids' quality is far from good, but I can assure that's not the band's fault but because of the (photo-)camara they were recorded with. According to Elisabet, Oddbeatles' music is considered intellectual, so she's not too surprised that for now, no more gigs are asked for. Probably some more will come up, but she doesn't expect as much success as a project like this deserves. That's sad, because it's really interesting, quite professional and, furthermore, the group's mastermind, David, has spent much effort on the creation and adaption of the songs. Hopefully, some more photos, videos or audio recordings of other concerts will be available on their facebook page soon...
UPDATE April 6th: OddBeatles have a bandpage with some photos, audios and even a video now.

Xavi, Odd's drummer, is sort of a hyperactive and has more projects going on. One of them, and the one I'm going to focus on now, is called Coll@ge. It too has existed for several years and somehow there have been various re-structurations, the last of which saw Elisabet hired as a piano-player and singer. Coll@ge is a duo with Xavi not only behind the drumset, but also on the sampler, and as one might guess, both members enjoy much protagonism. Their music is minimalistic in a way, though maybe not as much as one would guess, for the possibilities the sampler offers, together with those of Elisabet's new second hand synthesizer are seemingly unlimited. They don't compose any songs but instead do more or less modified versions of mostly widely known pop-songs. According to Xavi, it's a kind of music that easily enters and the proper thing to do while listening to it would be to have drink or two and a nice chat.
Coll@ge is already hired for some 15 concert, so it's no surprise the two of them wanted to test some songs in front of a not too critic audience before playing them for a paying one and thus, last Sunday, gave a concert at our house.
Due to the limited space of our living room, the number of invitations unfortunately had to be limited, but the impression was, that everyone present liked the idea of a private party. We hadn't seen a number of the faces for a while and so it was nice to chat a bit with their owners. Drinks and delicious food were brought along by the audience and in combination with homemade pizza, red-wine-cake and a punch made for a good dinner for everyone except the musicians. I suppose it was their starving responsible for the concert's (much critisized) briefness.

Socializing after the gig (and some posing) |
The inspiration for the title of this post comes from here. I didn't know the song though, it was Elisabet who came up with it.
